About Google Family Link
Parental controls help you guide your child's digital life with confidence. Google Family Link gives you the tools to establish healthy tech habits, monitor online activity, and stay connected with your family—all from one intuitive app.
Your child's screen time doesn't have to be a source of stress. Set daily time limits that work for your family's routine, with flexible scheduling for school hours and downtime. You can also manage individual app usage, allowing unlimited access to educational tools while setting boundaries on entertainment apps. If an app isn't right for your child, simply block it.
What they see online matters. Manage content filters across Google services including Chrome, YouTube, Play, and Search to keep inappropriate material away from young eyes. Require approval before new apps are installed, control app permissions, and maintain oversight of their digital permissions. You'll also have access to account management features, letting you help reset passwords, update personal information, or take other protective steps when needed.
Stay in the loop wherever your family goes. See your children's device locations on a shared map—perfect for knowing they've arrived safely at school or a friend's house. Receive notifications when they arrive at or leave specific locations, check remaining battery life, and even ring their devices if they're lost. Real-time alerts keep you informed without being intrusive.
Every family's relationship with technology is different, so Google Family Link lets you customize controls to match your values and your child's age and maturity. Whether you're managing a young child's first device or giving a teenager more independence, you can adjust settings as they grow.
Important to know: Family Link works with supervised Google Accounts, giving children safe access to Google services like Search, Chrome, and Gmail. Device compatibility varies, so check which devices support these features. App updates your child has already installed don't require re-approval, and some pre-installed apps may not be disableable. Location sharing requires the device to be on, recently active, and connected to Wi-Fi or mobile data. While Google Family Link provides powerful management tools to support safer online habits, parents should regularly review installed apps and permissions to ensure the best fit for their family.
